Site member, Michael Ceffaratti will be leaving April 10th, 2010 for an eight day mission/service trip to Sabana Cruz in the Dominican Republic, a small village on the border of Haiti. If his 14 yr. old son, Kyle can raise the needed $1500, he too will be attending. This is Michael's 5th trip and will be Kyle's 2nd, working with the organization,
"Food for the Hungry ". They will be doing service work for 2 weeks with some 14 people from the Goshen Baptist Church.
Michael and Kyle will help build much needed latrines and work to bring running water into the village. The people of Sabana Cruz live in small hut-like homes and walk hours to the river to bathe, do their laundry and collect water to bring back home. Most adults cannot read or write and many earn less than $1,000 a year.
The children of the community look forward to the visits and playing baseball with Michael and Kyle. They congregate in the early morning outside Michael and Kyle's sleeping quarters yelling, "Baseball! Baseball! Baseball!" When Michael made his first visit some 5 years ago, the children had no balls or bats, just sticks and rocks. According to 14 yr. old Kyle, "The kids in the village do not beg for things, they just want to be loved."
Help young Kyle return to help the poor. You may help Kyle get the resources for this trip by sending a check to Kyle Ceffaratti,1016 Carolyn Drive, West Chester, PA 19382. Checks should be made payable to Goshen Baptist Church and on the "memo" line reference Dominican Republic Mission Trip.
Kyle's parents, Michael and Darlene sponsor a child, providing their 2 children with a brother and sister! If you too are interested in sponsoring a child contact Kyle's dad, Michael Ceffaratti at mceff@verizon.net,
