I plan on wearing pink and on being with Dianne, Joel and Casey's friends to sing Happy Birthday tonight.
As Casey's Aunt, I took time to say a little prayer for Casey and remind her that she hasn't been forgotten. Her 21almost 22 years of her life was surely not wasted, for she has brought so much hope, love, and spirit to all who have known her. For Casey I am eating a pink cupcake, and knowing she is enjoying one with me also. Happy Birthday, Sweetheart from an aunt who misses you. Love Aunt Sue
Today, I was in the Knorr Theatre for rehearsal at SHS and remembered that it is Casey's birthday. I looked up at the plaque hanging in the theatre and said, "Happy Birthday, Casey" and said a little prayer for her.

I didn't know you, Casey, but you definitely had an impact on my life. Happy birthday to an inspiration :)
I requested skin care donations for oncology patients at ucla.

Does anyone have favorite memories of celebrating birthday's with Casey? If so - they would be very welcome contributions over at the Casey Memories Site.

Personally - I think there is a pink cupcake in my future! (Thanks for the great idea Susan!)
Hey Jill, Your presence is appreciated. Love you always. Marcy

I lit a candle for Casey, the flame reminding me of her spirit. I had an in depth conversation with her, renewing my personal commitments for self-improvement and service to others. Our relationship is continuing.
I ate pink Magnolia's cupcakes with some of Casey's Observers (Observer editors) by central park. I bought a little pink birthday sign to put in my cupcake. You can read about it here: http://observerblog.wordpress.com/

Ashley Tedesco, one of Casey's old assistant news editors, wrote it. She is now one of our Opinions editors.

Also, today my mom rescued a little Yorkshire terrier named Belle. My mom will foster her until she finds her adoptive family. My mom, thinking about Casey today, bought her a pink collar. Belle pranced around, showing the collar off to our other dogs.
For Casey's birthday, Marie Larson and I walked to Magnolia by Fordham and got the last two pink cupcakes that were there. We went to nearby restaurant and sat outside to have a margarita in Casey's honor (often her drink of choice) and had our cupcakes for dessert. I wore one of Casey's pink shirts that her mother, Dianne, gave me once during a visit (I never wear much color and Casey's pink shirt is one of the few pink things I now own). Marie and I sang "Happy Birthday" before eating our cupcakes (maybe looked a little crazy doing so, but that's okay...) Happy Birthday, Casey!

Hi Brooke. Missed you last night at the celebration. No wonder Casey loved those cupcakes, they look so good. Hope to see you soon. Best wishes from the scarf lady - Rachael

Yesterday I visited Casey's gravesite alone and appreciated the solitude of being there by myself with Casey. I talked to Casey about my memories of the day she was born as well as subsequent birthday celebrations and the party that we had scheduled for her that night. I sang my own happy birthday song to Casey there.

The house was decorated in hot pink and approximately 20 of Casey's friends celebrated last night in our home. We all got to release pink helium balloons, each with a personal note attached for Casey. Some even wrote an additional note with a marker on the outside of the balloons. We all exclaimed at once, "Happy Birthday Casey!" and released the balloons into the air at about 7:45 pm.

Back in the house, Racahel Ceffaratti said a beautiful prayer and we all enjoyed eating and chatting. We then sang happy birthday to Casey in unison, thereafter blowing out 22 candles on a pink birthday cake. The cake was even decorated with a picture of Casey (edible). On the table, was an 8x10 photo of Casey blowing out the birthday candles on her 20th birthday. I told everyone that Casey was also with us blowing out the candles!

The night ended with Melissa Zirolli, the boys, and Joel and I swinging in the backyard!

It was a beautiful celebration and I believe that we all found comfort in being together on this particularly significant day. I thank everyone who was there with us in body as well as in spirit. I know that Casey was with us in spirit.
