Permalink Reply by Dianne L. Anderson on November 24, 2009 at 1:55pm At the Fordham memorial, I mentioned a quote I found in the week or so after Casey's accident that I found comforting and inspiring. The quote is by Ralph Waldo Emerson, and he said, "It is not length of life, but depth of life." I have had it as the background of my computer so that I can be reminded of this quote every day, and can try to live deeply because that is what matters more than length. It is shown here and also attached here for anyone who wants to download the image.

I will be sharing it with my eldery parents in particular (they don't have computers and can't access this site). Even if you are not a Christian, you may find some comfort - substitute God or any other higher power of your choosing for Jesus Christ as you read this poem:
My First Christmas in Heaven
I see the countless Christmas trees around the world below,
With tiny lights, like heaven's stars, reflecting on the snow.
The sight is so spectacular, please wipe away that tear,
for I am spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.
I hear the many Christmas songs that people hold so dear,
But the sounds of music can't compare with the choir up here,
I have no words to tell you the joy their voices bring,
For it is beyond description to hear the angels sing.
I know how much you miss me, I see the pain inside your heart,
But I am not so far away, we really aren't apart.
So be happy for me, dear ones, you know I hold you dear,
And be glad I'm spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.
I send you each a special gift from my heavenly home above.
I send you each a memory of my undying love.
After all, "Love" is the gift, more precious than pure gold.
It was always most important in the stories Jesus told.
Please love and keep each other, as our Father said to do,
For I can't count the blessings or love He has for you.
So have a Merry Christmas and wipe away the tear.
Remember, I'm spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.
This is incredibly comforting. i need to know she is okay and connected to all who love her. Thanks for including it. Prayers, love and comforting thoughts to all.. Aunt Marcy
