GREAT picture of the Feldman family. The t-shirts were a great idea too!
Looks like everyone had a great time.

As Jay and I were strolling the avenue in Vineland and watching a car show, we met friends of ours who have a shore house in Sea Isle. She commented that she had not seen us or even saw any activity as she rode her bike by the Sea Isle house. I told her about the horrible tragedy that took place last July. She said she knew all about Casey as she has friends in OC. However, she had no idea that Casey was our niece, and she sends her love and sympathy to the family.

Jim and I were having dinner at new restaurant in Avalon last Thursday evening. As the tables were only inches apart from one another, we soon found ourselves chatting with the two couples seated at the next table. Turns out, one of the couples is from Haddon Field and is familiar with the Fiorellis (Christopher's friend's family). This particular couple were staying at their vacation home at 54th Street in OC. I quickly handed the gentleman one of my Casey cards (handed out at the viewing/funeral) and told him about the posters throughout OC picturing Casey. He was very familiar with the posters and said that he does a lot of charity/fund raisers through surfing events. I gave him Casey's website and encouraged him to check it out. There is a possibility that he might do something with regard to the Casey network/scholarships. We shall see.

I mentioned this to Dianne, and I'd like to share this with everyone else. About two weeks ago, Jim and I went up to Bob's Grill on the OC boardwalk to have Jamie serve us breakfast. As we left, we stopped at the pink remembrance tree. It is a beautiful sight and is well-marked with its purpose, message and Casey banners. A couple and their handicapped child were sitting on the bench less than a foot from where we were standing admiring the tree. They overheard comment on its beauty and that it must make a significant statement when lit up at night. We began to talk and I took the opportunity to tell them that Casey is my niece. They said they had noticed the banners around town and near think pink tree. Although they asked me a lot of questions about Casey, they seemed to have already known quite a bit about her. They offered their sympathies and were very kind as they acknowledged Casey's beautiful life and her legacy.

Happy that you got to see at least one of the banners. The tree at Bob's Grill was just lit; they will be adding a plaque. The Ocean City Police Dept. is working on a special banner for Bob's Grill as well. Yes, everyone believes that they will help save lives; how could you not be more careful after seeing Casey’s face and dates? Yes, Casey should have been one whose life was saved as well....

Consider some photos - see the event on this site: Summer Shore Goers - Send your Banner and Tree Photos! The album is Summer Safety at the Shore – Casey Banners and Pink Trees.

Great pic below, don't know it you saw it:

Last night we went to the Ocean City boardwalk. As we entered Ocean City from the 34th street entrance, we saw the beautiful banner of Casey. We were of course sad and upset by the banner, however we realized that this will help tourists and locals to stop and think about pedestrians on the crosswalks and streets. We were then proud of all the work that Dianne and Joel have done to help save other lives. Even though our Casey's life should have be one that was saved. As we parked and went up on the boardwalk our friends spotted a pink tree outside of Bob's Grill.we knew immediately that the tree stood beautiful and pink for Casey. Another tear jerker. However our friend reminded us that the tree was beautiful just like Casey, and all who placed their eyes on it would remember her. Once the night arrived the tree was lit up with the pink lights. Casey I am sure was looking down and saying, don't cry, it is a spectacular site. As any friends and family see the tree and banners, I know it will bring tears, but Casey would want us to be happy for all the lives that may be saved. Too bad Casey, your life was too short.

Last night we "went to the Cappies" and had a wonderful time. The Cappies is a spectacular event that showcases the talents of some of our best high school students. The songs, dance routines and performances were evey bit as entertaining and as well executed as those we see on Broadway. Kudos to all of young men and women involved in the Cappies.

Dianne,
The pink remembrance tree ceremony in Sea Isle was very touching. I think the pink tree is a great tribute to those who have lost their lives due to a traffic accident. It especially pays tribute to Casey, since she loved Sea Isle. It will surely bring her with us when we cross the bridge into the city. Her pink remembrance tree will shine just as Casey will do upon as in Sea Isle. Good job, Dianne and Joel. Love, Susan
