July 17, 2011 Day of Service to Honor Casey's Memory at To Be Announced

July 17, 2011 from 9am to 3pm

We will be returning this year to Francisvale no-kill animal shelter for a day of service in memory of Casey . Service will include laying insulation in a portion of the attic, doing some outdoor work to prepare a doggie play area and some "lighter" indoor work to possibly include adminstrative tasks. You will have the option to choose which task you would like to perform. What are you doing because of Casey?: Casey has taught me the importance of telling family members and friends that I love them. She has also taught me that we can never tell our loved ones too often just what they mean to us. My relationships have grown deeper and more meaningful because of my sweet niece. Casey's love will always be carried with me in my heart, and because of that Casey will forever be with me in my heart.

Our website is, www.claytonshope.org, where you can learn more about Clay, our organization and our annual walk (I am Clay's mom). I google our walk, "Steps for Seizures" each year for marketing purposes and your site came up with a member posting the walk. I am not sure as to who the member was, as it did not list a name.

No pics -- I just made a donation to the WWF (World Wildlife Fund) to help with relief efforts in the Gulf due to the oil spill + I stopped by the local animal shelter to donate some dry food and a few blankets for the animals waiting to be adopted. I really wouldn't call that a "day of service" but I did have Casey on my mind at the time -- she is always on my mind.

By the way you talk about Casey, and being a niece myself, I'm sure she thought of you as a second mother the way you thought of her as a daughter. I was lucky enough to meet Casey a few years back when she worked at Anapol Schwartz for the summer. Unfortunately, I really didn't get to know her that well, and after hearing what a great person she was, I really do feel like I missed out on getting to know a really wonderful person, especially after hearing about her love of animals. I always find myself trying to do what I can for stray cats and shelter animals. Though, I never did nearly as much as Casey, she will be my inspiration to do more, and to be a better person as a whole, not just a more aware driver/pedestrian.
