July 17, 2012 Day of Service at Magee Rehab at Magee Rehabilitation Hospital

July 17, 2012 from 10am to 2pm
Join us for Casey's  3rd "Angelversary" at Magee Rehab Center in Phila. Volunteer activities will take place from 10 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Lunch will then be served and we will meet Ford, the first rehab dog at Magee. The funding for Ford and his trainer was made possible through the Casey Feldman Memorial Foundation. Whether you are performing service on the 17th or not, all are invited to our home at 7:00 p.m. on the evening of July 17th for a dinner remembering Casey on her first "angelversary". The South Jersey Traffic Safety Alliance (SJTSA) has kicked off their summer safety campaign, targeting the southern shore communities, using Casey’s face and story to add a human element to the dangers of unsafe driving and the need for pedestrians to use caution. You are welcome Alice. We got back from CO Monday night. I had felt so guilty that I had been holding on to that scarf for you since before Christmas! I kept forgetting to drop it off. Hope that all is well and that you are enjoying the snow?!

Hi Alice, You are very welcome. I'm happy that so many (over 50) are wearing the "Pink Casey Scarf". Right now I am working on a new project that I saw on Action News last week. This young man has established a group called Chemo Clothes stationed in New Jersey in honor of his mother who died from breast cancer. Since I am a breast cancer survivor, I thought it would be something for me to do. His mother used to knit when she was getting her treatments and donate her items to others and I use to crochet hats and leave them at the Cancer Center, so now he is asking for anyone who knits, crochets, sews, makes jewelry or other items, etc. to donate to the group by sending him the donations and then he has fund raisers and donates the proceeds to the Susan Komen Foundation and to Children's Hospital. Hi Alice! Just thought that I would let you know that our dear friend Rachael Ceffaratti paid a visit to me yesterday and left a gift for you here. Maybe we could have you and Colin over for the holidays and you can pick it up then. We are going to be decorating our massive sycamore tree with pink lights as a tribute to Casey.
6,000 feet of lights (branches wrapped like out at Longwood). So you can also see the lights at the same time. Love, Di

Hi Alice! It was great to meet you! That would be incredible, please let them know that I have read about their organization before and tried to see if they had a chapter in New York. Let them know I will be able to fundraise for their cause. I really love the concept behind Back on My Feet, because sometimes the root of what people really need to work to get their lives on track is confidence. It's awesome you and your son take the time to wake up early run with them. When are the runs? I hope to visit Springfield again and maybe when I'm there I can join you one morning.
